2024 Season Information

Track and Field is back in full swing for EVAA! Last year we had nearly 150 kids join us from grades Pre-K to 7th grade! Events will include sprints, hurdles, jumping and throwing events, and relay races! (Older kids will also have the opportunity for longer race events and more advanced field events.) All athletes are welcome—whether you’ve done the program before or it’s your first time. Our goal is to provide each athlete with additional strength, speed, agility, and confidence—all while making new friends and having a great time cheering each other on! Multi-sport athletes are welcome and encouraged.

We need parent volunteers and coaches to make the program succeed! Please reach out to Program Director Shawna Nelsen-Wills at 612-408-2860 with any questions. Many of the high school track athletes are also helping out—giving our younger kids some great role models and expert advice!

This year we are hoping to have two teams for Pre-K & Kindergarten, four teams for 1st through 3rd grade, and one traveling team for 4th through 7th that will compete against each other and other schools as available. That means we need at least seven coaches, and it’s always great to have two coaches per team if possible. No experience is necessary as training will be provided.

The season will start after spring break on Monday, April 1 and will run through the beginning of June. (End date is a little flexible due to the need for make-up meets if we have poor weather along the way.)  Practices are held on Monday and Friday evenings (either at Eastview track or an indoor venue depending on weather), with track meets starting in late April. Given the mild winter, I'm hopeful we'll be on the track most of the time! Meets will be held on Friday nights, with one or two Saturday meets for the older youth.

A full schedule will be loaded into Sports Engine once registration closes.

Registration will open February 19 and close March 22.

Thank you!
