Track and Field is back in full swing for EVAA! Each year we have approximately 150 kids from grades Pre-K to 7th grade come out for EVAA track. Events will include sprints, hurdles, jumping and throwing events, and relay races! (Older kids will also have the opportunity for longer race events and more advanced field events.) All athletes are welcome—whether you’ve done the program before or it’s your first time. Our goal is to provide each athlete with additional strength, speed, agility, and confidence—all while making new friends and having a great time cheering each other on! Multi-sport athletes are welcome and encouraged.
We need parent volunteers and coaches to make the program succeed! Please reach out to Program Director Shawna Nelsen-Wills at 612-408-2860 with any questions. Many of the high school track athletes are also helping out—giving our younger kids some great role models and expert advice!
This year we are hoping to have two teams for Pre-K & Kindergarten, four teams for 1st through 3rd grade, and one traveling team for 4th through 7th that will compete against each other and other schools as available. That means we need at least seven coaches, and it’s always great to have two coaches per team if possible. No experience is necessary as training will be provided.
The season will start after spring break on Monay, April 7th (weather permitting) and will run through Monday, June 9. (End date is a little flexible due to the need for make-up meets if we have poor weather along the way.) Practices are held on Monday and Friday evenings (either at Eastview track or Eagan Community Center depending on weather), with track meets starting in late April. Meets will predominantly be held on Friday nights in late April/early May, with a few Saturday meets for the older youth.
A full schedule will be available as we get closer to the start of the season.
Registration will open in early February. If you have questions about the program, please contact Shawna Nelsen-Wills at shawnanelsen3@gmail.com or 612-408-2860.
Thank you!
This will be my last year running the EVAA Track Program as I look to transition the Program to a new Director. (My youngest is aging out of the program.) I'd love to have a Co-Director this year to learn the ropes and be ready to take over in 2026. Also, we are always looking for coaches and volunteers to assist throughout the season. If you are interested, please email to let me know: evaatrackdirector@gmail.com.
Please consider joining our board. We are continually looking for enthusiastic parents with fresh ideas to help us make the track program bigger and better each year! The time commitment is pretty minimal - a few hours a month a few months a year.
Please register before April 4th to ensure team selection can be fulfilled prior to start date.
