1st Grade In-House Program

At the 1st Grade level we focus on the basic skills and fundamentals of basketball.  In the Fall (Nov-Dec), players will be put onto teams and meet twice a week.  During the weeknight practice all teams will practice together so that all players can work on a particular skill each week.  Saturdays will be game days.  The first 20-30 minutes on Saturdays will feature a “warm up” team practice followed by a 20-30 minute game.

All Saturday games for the Boys will take place at 9 am while Girls games will be at 11 am.  These will be at Oak Ridge Elementary.   A game schedule will be shared once teams are formed.  If your player wants to continue to work on their basketball skills you can sign them up for Skills Sessions in the Winter (Jan-Feb). These start in January and will be held every Saturday.  Times and location are yet to be determined.   You may sign your son or daughter up for the Fall session (which has games), Winter Session (which is just skills, NO games) OR both sessions.

    • This age group will have a 1 hour Saturday session on the following dates in the FALL: 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 12/7, 12/14, and 12/21.  These sessions will help build the skills they need for their In-House season.

    • Saturday sessions will serve as their 'try-out'.  Coaches will run these sessions and place kids on teams based on these Saturday sessions.

  • ***Gym dates, times, and locations are assigned by the district.  I do not receive this information until much closer to the start of the WINTER session.  The days of the week and times listed above are what I try to stick to when putting together our practice schedule, however I do work with the coaches and try to schedule days of the week that work with their schedule.  Without these volunteer coaches we would not be able to have teams so I want to make sure they are able to attend all of the practices.

  • The dates/times/location may vary from week to week depending on how much time we are allocated.  I will do my best to stick to the above schedule but please understand that things may not work out so consistently due to school concerts, snow days, gym availability, etc..
