League-only Traveling Fastpitch Softball

Overview

The 8U and League-Only (LO) traveling program serves girls age 8-10 with a summer season running from May through July.

8U and League-Only differs from full Traveling Softball in that these teams generally don't participate in weekend tournaments so the time commitment is moderate. At 8U, the girls rely on a pitching machine. 10U girls do pitch and LO involves competition generally one tier lower than full Traveling. Girls must be 8-10 years old on January 1 of the current year. Teams are formed based on interest level - no tryouts are required. If a 10U player tries out for the full Traveling program but does not make a team she will be placed on a LO Traveling team.

For 10U, league-only (LO) traveling fastpitch softball provides a good compromise between in-house softball and full traveling. All 8U teams are considered League Only within our region. The time commitment for 8U/LO is similar to full traveling (one game night per week for 8U, two game nights per week for 10U - and 1-2 nights of practice per week however teams generally do not play weekend tournaments).

10U LO fastpitch teams compete at the "C" level, whereas full traveling teams compete at the A or B level. Numerous other communities in the tri-county field C teams, which allows for league games (home and away) against teams from these communities.

Fusion 10U LO teams also have the option of competing in as many or as few tournaments as the team decides upon, but usually only play on two weekends with the state qualifier and state tournament. These end-of-season State qualifier and State Tournament provide a good introduction to tournament softball as well.
