Dear Apple Valley Parks and Recreation System User,

Thank You for Your Feedback

Over the course of the last several months, we have engaged the Apple Valley community to learn what changes residents want in our parks and recreation system. In Phase 1 we asked for your general feedback, and in Phase 2 we asked you to provide feedback on multiple concepts that were developed as a result of your responses from Phase 1. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Final Concepts, Cost Estimates, and Tax Impact

We received great feedback through the public meetings we held, the online forum we hosted, and the emails we received. From this feedback, we have developed community-driven final concept plans and cost estimates, and we are now able to share the associated tax impacts. Click here to view the plans and tax impact for each proposed project.

Remember, we will not be able to complete all of the projects on this list. The intent of providing the entire list to the community is to show the different needs and interests expressed by residents, along with the associated investments necessary to complete the projects as well as their respective tax impacts. Our hope is that this data will allow residents to help us prioritize the most important projects and to tell us what you are willing to invest in.

Community Phone Survey

The City has contracted a professional public opinion firm, The Morris Leatherman Company (MLC), to perform a statistically accurate community survey in March to gauge resident interest in a potential parks bond referendum to enhance our parks and recreational facilities. MLC pollsters will be conducting phone surveys using technology that allows them to access Apple Valley residents via a traditional landline or a cell phone. Pollsters will complete 400 phone surveys to provide the Council with information regarding residents’ interest in a Parks Bond Referendum.

The City will use the survey results to help answer:

  • Are Apple Valley residents supportive of a Parks Bond Referendum?
  • If yes, what projects are Apple Valley residents interested in supporting?
  • If yes, how much of a tax increase is the typical Apple Valley resident willing to vote for to help support improvements to the parks and recreation system?

Public Open Houses

We’re excited to share improvement ideas of our City parks and recreational facilities. You’re invited to join us for an open house where project staff will be available to answer questions about the final concepts, cost estimates, and tax impacts. See the schedule below.
