EVAA Code of Conduct

As a condition of participating, observing, or volunteering in EVAA activities, EVAA participants, including formal volunteers or officials, athletes, families, and others, agree to abide by and follow the listed expectations and guidelines, in addition to any other applicable EVAA policies or requirements.

  1. Promote EVAA philosophies including teamwork, effort, skill development, positive character, sportsmanship, safe environments, graciousness in victory as well as defeat.
  2. Respect property, equipment, and the surrounding environment at any sport facility, field, or location, whether home or away.
  3. Encourage good sportsmanship and ethical conduct through actions, omissions, verbal expression, or otherwise, and support all players, coaches, officials, and other participants or spectators at every event, game, practice, tournament, or activity.
  4. Promote the emotional and physical well-being of athletes to provide a positive and educational experience.
  5. Demand environments for all athletes free from the influence of illicit drugs as well as alcohol and tobacco, or other controlled, intoxicating, or harmful substances and refrain from use at all EVAA activities, whether home or away.
  6. Remember that the athletic events are for the players, and not parents, families, or spectators; do not elevate winning beyond the primary goal of youth sports, which is teaching skills and values such as fair play, working through adversity, and other positive traits.
  7. Demand that players treat all individuals with respect, courtesy, dignity, and positive behavior regardless of any protected class, ability, or other factor; this includes actions, attitude, behavior, and mannerisms. Discourage and avoid trash talk or demeaning language or actions that do not contribute to a positive experience for others.
  8. Inform coaches or other officials of any challenges or ailments that can affect safety.
  9. Inform coaches of expected absences or other matters within a reasonable amount of time prior to an event, so as to allow for accommodation or changes in game plans or practice time.
  10. Promptly and accurately report concerns to EVAA using designated reporting methods or discussing with designated EVAA personnel per the EVAA Complaint & Reporting Policy (Click tab above) .
  11. Understand that failure to abide by these expectations or other policies could result in disciplinary action that could include warnings, suspension, disqualification, removal, or other penalties.

EVAA Participants are expected to adhere to these and other EVAA requirements regardless of whether they are asked to formally agree in written, digital, or verbal form.
