EVAA In-House Baseball

Overview

The In-House Baseball Program serves kids in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. A child's grade at the time of registration determines their eligibility for each program level.

The program provides each player with a hat and jersey with EVAA logos. Socks will not be provided as in previous years. Players must purchase their own pants. Keep in mind some teams may decide to try to have everyone buy the same color pants.

In-House Baseball Registration Fees:

            Pre-K through 3rd Grade: $120

            4th Grade through 11th Grade: $170

Late registrations may be accepted dependent upon availability and payment of a $50 late fee.

Registration Deadline: The registration deadline is March 31, 2019.

PLEASE REGISTER YOUR PLAYER FOR THE GRADE HE IS IN NOW. For instance, a player who is currently a 5th grader at Diamond Path should register as a 5th grader. Please do not sign him up as a 6th grader as it will result in an incorrect roster assignment.

Season start date: We are targeting the week of April 22nd to begin practices, depending upon weather/field conditions.

Coaches Meeting: The coaches' meeting is tentatively set to take place the week of April 15th at Falcon Ridge Middle School.

Program Description

The following outlines some details for the upcoming 2019 Baseball Season.

The In-house leagues are broken out by grade level.

  • Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten are combined in a single league. These grades play 2 nights/week, no weekend days.
  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade teams play against their own grade level. Generally, these grades play 2 nights/week. No weekend days.
  • 3rd grade teams will play against 3rd grade teams from Eagan Athletic Association (EAA) and other EVAA teams. Generally these teams play 2 nights/week, possibly more based on the coaches discretion. No weekend games except the end of season tourney.
  • The 4th and 5th grade level are combined. Teams will play against other 4th/5th grade teams from EAA and Inver Grove Heights. Generally, this level plays between 3-4 nights/week including practices and games. Only the end of year tourney will be on a weekend.
Teams in 6th thru 11th grades play in the South Metro Baseball League (SMBL).
  • 6th/7th grade (Colts), 8th/9th grade (Ponies), and 10th/11th grade (Mustangs) will play weekday games against other in-house teams from Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Lakeville, Prior Lake, and possibly other cities.
  • Players will need to travel to some games outside of the Apple Valley city limits, but all games will be played in the south metro area.
  • Some weekend play is required, but it is less than a travelling season. We expect to play in at least two weekend tournaments.

Game and practice days:

  • K-3rd Grade games and practices will only be on Mon-Thu nights.
  • Most practices and games for higher levels will take place on Monday - Thursday evenings. Regular games are not scheduled on the weekends unless it is the only available date to complete a makeup game.
  • Tournament play only applies to 3rd grade and older, and will include weekend play. Note: 3rd and 4/5th grade levels only have a tournament at the end of the season. Older levels may also have a mid season tournament.

We will continue to keep the grade-level-based age group format as opposed to a birth date-based format. This will be based on the child's current grade at the time of registration.

In a continued effort to maintain the integrity of the EVAA In House Baseball program, we use paid umpires for 4th/5th grade games and older age groups.

We have established a Board of 6-8 participants who will be managing the day-to-day operation of the program. If anyone else has an interest in volunteering to be a member of this program board for this or next year, please leave your name, number and message under the “Contact Us” link found on our website (www.evaasports.org) or contact one of the current baseball board members.
