Overview

The In-House program serves girls approximately 5-6 (Birth Years 2016-2018) years old (6U, formally K-1) with a summer season running from early May through June. It is a coach pitch league and teams generally play two games per week.

The In-House program is focused on both fun and skill development. Girls play at their age as of December 31, 2022. Teams are formed, when possible, by placing girls with other players from their school or neighborhood.

COACHES NEEDED

Hello New Fusion Families!  It is great to see registrations start to roll in for the upcoming season.  Parents, I ask you please, if you have the time and willingness to coach, please do so.  We are working on a new coaching program that will provide suggested drills to help ease new coaches into their roles.  On the registration, please volunteer as "coach" if you can.   Thank you everyone and I look forward to a great season!

FAQs

Please find answers to these Frequently Asked Questions about Inhouse softball below:

What is the style of play?
The Apple Valley Fusion 6U Coach Pitch program stresses skills that the girls will need to be successful in fastpitch softball.

Are there tryouts?
No, there are no tryouts for 6U Coach Pitch - all that is required is a desire to play and have fun!

How are teams selected?
We try to create teams based upon parent requests and the schools the girls attend. In addition, we try to make sure that each team has the same number of younger and older players.

How many girls are on a team?
We try to limit the number of girls on a team to 12 so they all can stay involved. At the 6U level we may put as few as 7 on a team to keep them active.

When is the season?
The 6U Coach Pitch season runs from early May until mid June. Typically the first two weeks of the season are just practices and after that the season begins. We try and have everything wrapped up by the 4th of July every year.

How many games are played each week?
Schedules usually have two games each week on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Where will games be played?
The field assignments will be made by the City of Apple Valley in April. The 6U teams play all of their games in Apple Valley at the fields of Scott Highlands Middle School (14011 Pilot Knob Rd) - park in Scott Highlands parking lot or along 142nd Street. Last year we played a few games with VAA and Burnsville while utilizing Falcon Ridge, Hayes, and Alimagnet.

Does Apple Valley Fusion provide a uniform?
A T-shirt is provided for each girl in the program. These items usually arrive by the first game in mid-May.

What about pictures?
Each year Apple Valley Fusion coordinates with a company to come and take team pictures. Details of the time and place will be distributed by the coach when they become available. Purchasing pictures is optional but all are encouraged to attend for the team photo.

Are there any participation awards?
In the past, each girl that plays in the 6U Coach Pitch program has received a small trophy at our End of the Year Celebration in June at Eastview High School Fields

What equipment does Apple Valley Fusion provide?
Apple Valley Fusion provides basic equipment for the team: bats, balls, batting tees, etc.

What equipment will have to be purchased?
Each player will need to provide their own glove and batting helmet. It is recommended that the batting helmet has a facemask and chinstrap.

Optional Equipment: Cleats, Softball Pants (Black), Belt (Black), Softball Socks (Black), Batting Gloves, Fielding Facemask.  These items are required in 8U, and highly recommended for the girls moving to 8U in the Fall or next Spring.

Where is K-1 Coach Pitch?

As of 2023, K-1 Coach Pitch has been replaced by 6U Coach Pitch, this is still the same program, just with a new name that will better help the girls be placed at the appropriate level by their age.  We still will take brand new players that are in 1st Grade regardless of the age requirement.   6U - Birth Years 2016-2018 (and brand new players in 1st Grade), 8U - Birth Years 2014 & 2015.

Where is 2/3rd grade In-House?
As of 2018 we no longer offer this opportunity. Registration numbers for that program have been in decline within our organization and across the metro area. We do offer 8U which is similar, but with the added bonus of playing other associations like Eagan, Rosemount, Farmington, etc.
