Traveling Baseball Tournament Information

Tournament Information

Eastview Traveling Baseball hosts sections of the MBT State Championship tournament as well as several age groups and levels for the August Classic.

EVTB-hosted tournaments are entirely volunteer run; for volunteer information please see the information below.

If you are a participant seeking to find tournament information about the MBT State Championship or the August Classic, please see the Metro Baseball League website.

Dibs test

A "test" dibs session has been established to allow you to see what the summer tournament sign up process will entail. Use the instructions below to claim a dibs item for the Traveling Baseball Test dibs session.

Volunteer opportunities

In order to fulfill your baseball volunteer requirement, you will need to register for and complete volunteer hours at one of the two tournaments Eastview hosts: the MBL State Tournament (held in early- to mid-July) or the August Classic (held right around the 1st of August).

Sign-up will be published via the dibs tool on this website closer to the actual tournament dates when needs are determined. At present, the dibs tool does NOT publish volunteer slots claimed by others; it will only display those slots you personally have claimed. We will try to publish claimed slots during the sign up period but if you wish to sign up with a friend to work a particular job, your best bet is to coordinate with that person at time of sign up.

To use dibs, sign in using your website account and password and click on the dibs tab. View the list of tasks (we will try to publish with "categories" to also allow you to filter by category such as concessions or field setup) and select the time slot and job you wish to claim. Please claim carefully to reduce the administrative burden of cancelling claims.

For all volunteer positions, be sure to check in at the appropriate site (Johnny Cake Ridge Teen Center or Quarry Park) prior to your shift. Below is more information as to what each task entails.

Concessions descriptions

Concessions jobs are relatively straightforward. Most concessions jobs involve selling various food and drink concessions at Johnny Cake Ridge Park or Quarry Park. Concessions volunteers are also required to ensure that restroom facilities are appropriately stocked with hand towels and toilet paper. Concessions volunteers must be at least 14 years of age but 14-15 year old volunteers must be capable of keeping up with the work.

Concessions carts are operated at certain times and volunteers are required to drive carts between fields and sell beverages and other items from the cart. Cart volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and must have a valid driver's license.

Grill volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and are responsible to grill hamburgers, hot dogs, and bratwurst for sale at the concession locations.

Concession volunteers at Apple Valley High School are responsible to sell beverages and other items (typically using a provided golf cart) and to also distribute and collect umpire cards from the umpires at fields in use at the site. AVHS concessions volunteers must check in at Johnny Cake Ridge Park concessions (at the Teen Center) prior to driving to AVHS. AVHS concessions volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.

Field and fence setup information

Fence setup involves setting up temporary fences at fields located at Johnny Cake Ridge Park, Apple Valley High School, and any other locations which may use portable fences. Fence setup is completed prior to the start of the tournament and requires physical labor in positioning fences, pounding in stakes, etc.

For fence setup, plan to meet at the North side of the JCRP hockey rinks (near the Teen Center) at 6 pm. You will be setting up the outfield fences on JCRPW fields 6 and 7 and AVHS Fields 2 and 3. The fences will be leaning up against the hockey rinks. The stakes will also be available in the same area. You will need to bring hammers. Set the fences approximately 305 feet from home plate down the lines and 320 to center field. Transport tarps/mounds to JCRPE Fields. Fence setup volunteers are asked to please bring a pick-up truck if available and to please bring brooms to sweep out every dugout area on all the fields in use.

Field setup instructions are posted separately on this page. Field setups can take as little as 15 minutes but count as an hour of volunteer time. Multiple field setups can be claimed for the first game of a day and two simultaneous setups can be claimed on adjacent fields at other times, but please be cautious to not claim too many setups at the same time as this could delay the start of a game. Field setup instructions are also posted at game fields; if you have any reservations about completing this work you could arrive early to one of your own team's games and help your coaches by setting up a field in advance of the tournament!

Please note: listed times reflect game time. If you are scheduled for the first game of the day, please arrive one hour prior to game time. For all other games, please arrive 45 minutes prior to game time.

In case of inclement weather please plan accordingly. ALLOW YOURSELF EXTRA TIME IN CASE OF RAIN!!!!!

Also, if you finish your fields early and another field is running behind schedule please avail yourself to help out on those fields so everything stays on schedule. Field set-up guides are in field boxes, if present.
