EVAA In-House Baseball

The Inhouse Baseball Program serves kids ages 5-17 with a season that runs from the end of April through mid July. A child's grade at the time of registration determines their eligibility for the program.

The program provides each child a hat, socks, and shirt using either Major League or Minor League team logos.  Minor League logos are used for Pre K through 2nd grade, and Major League logos are provided to kids in 3rd grade through 6th grade.

Concussion Training

Beginning with the 2012 season, all EVAA coaches will be required to complete the online concussion training offered by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  This training will take about 45 minutes to complete.  Parents are encouraged to take this course as well.

The training can be found at www.cdc.gov/concussion/HeadsUp/online_training.html.

Frequently Asked Questions

1)     On which nights will my child’s games and practices be?

Answer: Your child will play Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday nights. The specific nights of the week may vary on a week-by-week basis.

2)     When will I find out my child’s schedule?

Answer:  There will be a coaches meeting on Thursday, April 12.  Coaches will either draft their teams (3rd grade and up) or will get their rosters at this meeting.  Coaches will be contacting their players before the end of that weekend.

3)     What times do games and practices begin?

Answer: Most games and practices will begin at 6:15.

2012 EVAA In-House Baseball Program Description

The following outlines some details for the upcoming 2012 Baseball Season.

The Inhouse leagues will be broken out by grade level. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten are combined in a single league. There are individual leagues for 1st grade through 6th grade that represent a single grade level. Starting in 3rd grade, teams begin playing against Valley Athletic Association (VAA) teams in addition to the EVAA teams.

The pool of opposing teams expands starting in 7th grade. 7th grade (Colts), 8th/9th grade (Ponies), and 10th/11th grade (Mustangs) will play weekday games against other in-house teams from VAA, Lakeville, Eagan, and possibly one other city. Players will need to travel to some games outside of the Apple Valley city limits, but unlike Traveling Baseball there will not be any weekend tournament play except possibly during the end-of-season tournament.

Like in past years, we will be providing hats, socks and shirts using either Major League or Minor League team logos for each team. Minor League logos will be used for Pre K-K through 2nd grade, and Major League logos will be used for 3rd grade through 6th grade. Colts, Ponies, and Mustangs will all wear Eastview logos.

We will continue to keep the grade-level-based age group format as opposed to a birth date-based format. This will be based on the child's current grade at the time of registration.

The EVAA 3rd through 6th grade teams will represent American League teams.  VAA traditionally has represented the National League, but starting in 2012 they will be playing with "Apple Valley Baseball"-branded jerseys.  Each association will be making up teams from their own respective participants, and games will be inter-scheduled for each grade during the regular season.

Each association will then hold an end of the season tournament to obtain a “Pennant” winner for each grade, with each EVAA winner then playing the corresponding VAA winner in a one-game World Series. The mid-season All-Star Game will allow the top players on each EVAA team to play against the top VAA players.

In a continued effort to maintain the integrity of the EVAA In House Baseball program, we will be using paid umpires for all games starting at the 4th grade level.
In an effort to maintain parity among all teams, we will still hold a closed-door coaches draft of players 3rd grade and and older. However, players will be selected based on evaluations turned in by the coaches after the 2011 season, as opposed to a tryout. If we do not have an evaluation, we will do our best to obtain the necessary information to aid in this process.

We have also established a Board of 6-8 participants who will be managing this year’s program. If anyone else has an interest in volunteering to be member of this program board for this or next year, please leave your name, number and message under the “Contact Us” link found on our website (www.evaasports.org).
